UsGirls programme is a national scheme designed to improve the wellbeing of young women and girls living in selected areas of health need in England.
The programme supports young females and volunteers, to help assist them with the development of girls only clubs within their own local community, and then will offer support in signposting individuals to other local physical activity, clubs or programmes, depending on their needs.
After the success of UsGirls in Goole and Bridlington, the council now wants to find out if young females in Withernsea would like or need a Girls Only club in Withernsea. The council’s Sport, Play and Arts team want to hear local people’s views and will be holding three taster sessions for females aged between 11 and 19.
Bernie Clarke, play and community engagement officer, said : “We are wanting to invite young females aged 11 – 19 to have their say about having an UsGirls club in Withernsea. Why not pop along and visit us on any of these dates - you can come alone or bring a friend and see us and enjoy some light refreshments at one session, or even better all three of them!”
“The UsGirls scheme is targeting young females aged 11+ from Withernsea’s local communities to find out what young females like to do, how they would like their club to look - it could be you just want to socialise, meet friends, cook, arts & crafts or maybe get physically active and improve their health and try something new. No need to book, just turn up we would love to see you there.”
