As work progresses on the complete refurbishment of East Riding Leisure Hornsea, East Riding of Yorkshire Council has unveiled a competition for young creatives, to get their artwork on display at the site.

The competition is open to anyone studying GCSE or A Level DT and Art and Design. The winners will have their artwork on display in Hornsea throughout the development of the new multi-use centre, and will receive three months’ premier membership when the new centre opens, and a tablet.

Hornsea's new multi-use centre is due to open in Spring 2020, including:

  • East Riding Leisure Hornsea
  • Libraries and Customer Services
  • Children's Centre
  • Adult Services.

Centre manager David Chalmers said : “We are looking for a mural to go on display on the hoarding around the centre, which incorporates features from all of the facilities which will be in the new building. This can be interpreted in any way you like - the more creative the better!”

The artwork can be a painting, illustration, or graphic/ materials based artwork.

Deadline for submission is 30 April, 2019.

Submissions should be sent to: Mrs Field, The Design Technology Department, Hornsea School and Language College, Eastgate, Hornsea, HU18 1DW.

All submissions will be judged by Helena Cox, the Curator at Beverley Art Gallery, and the winner will be announced on 13 May.
