Active Coast is all set for 2019 – and the programme kicks off in style this Easter!
The Spring Programme offers a chance to get active, be healthy, and enjoy life along the stunning East Yorkshire coast with a range of fun activities to explore, enjoy and join in.
Lou Adams, sport, play and arts service manager, said : “Active Coast is now in its third year and I am delighted we are able to run an exciting programme with many new features in 2019. After a hugely successful 2018, engaging over 19000 people along the East Yorkshire coast, we are looking forward to another great year!”
The programme over the Easter holidays includes:
Active Coast also offers a chance to follow the Mile Markers Trails in three locations and keep fit with fun walks : Bridlington has two routes, between the Park and Ride and Sewerby Hall and Gardens, covering three miles; Hornsea offers a 1km route on the South Promenade; and in Withernsea, there are the new Fossil and Furlong markers to find.
There are also weekly Walks for Health all year round, which operate from Sewerby Hall and Gardens on Tuesdays at 10.30 am (one hour walks); East Riding Leisure Bridlington on Thursdays at 10am (one hour walks); The Floral Hall Café in Hornsea on Wednesdays at 11am (one hour); and from East Riding Leisure Withernsea on Wednesdays at 9.30am (one hour).
Active Coast is provided by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, with its partners Skyball, East Coast Beach Soccer, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Yorkshire Cricket Board, and Surfers Against Sewage.
