Easter Adventures at Sewerby Hall and Gardens, including the return of medieval jousting

Easter Adventures have come to Sewerby Hall and Gardens, with a full programme of fun activities until 28 April.

The house is hosting The Easter Trail throughout the period, with a chance to solve the clues and complete the Easter crossword.

Highlights of the Easter Adventures programme include:

  • Monday, 15 April : Rusticus Encounter : Woodland Creatures featuring Romola Rabbit : Join Romola Rabbit’s band of bunnies as she goes on a very special raid this Easter! Determined to throw off her cute and furry image, Romola is on a mission and it’s the survival of the fittest in this race for tasty treats – an outdoor performance walk with a larger than life character! Performances will take place at 11.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm. There will also be an Active Coast activity : Bushcraft and Wildlife Warrior, from 1pm -3pm . Join the Active Coast team this Easter for bushcraft, shelter building and toast marshmallows on the fire.
  • Tuesday, 16 April : Rusticus Woodland Creatures Theatre : The Odyssey! Odysseus wants to get home to celebrate the end of the war but he’s in trouble with the powerful God, Poseidon, who is making his journey as difficult as possible!! Help the woodland creatures perform the story of the challenges and temptations he faces on his way - including six-headed monsters, distracting singing and delicious beef dinners! Then be ready to celebrate in the triumphant procession, as he finally makes it home! Outdoor interactive performance. Performances will take place at 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm.
  • Wednesday, 17 April : 11am-4pm : Magic Day and face painting, and donkey rides
  • Thursday, 18 April : Rusticus Adventure : Magical Forest! : Join an exciting quest into the magical forest to find the elusive plant of life! With challenges to face along the way and mysterious characters to meet - only the true of heart will witness a magical transformation and reach the ultimate prize! But will you preserve the secrets of the woodland wizard and forest fairy? Outdoor performance walk, with games and activities.Performances will take place at 11.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm.
  • Good Friday, 19 April : Enjoy traditional seaside swing boats for children of all ages, included in the admission charge. Traditional seaside donkeys will be on the front events field, with donkey rides available for £2 per child between 11am and 3pm. Also celebrate Easter by making an Easter Bonnet of your own, or some Easter Bunny ears to wear. There will be egg decorating, too.
  • Saturday, 20 April : a day of Easter fun and games, with an Easter themed Magic Show at 2pm. The Easter Bunny will be joining in the fun from 11am until 1.15pm, along with our professional face painter between 11am until 4pm. All included within the admission price. Traditional seaside donkeys will be on the front events field, with donkey rides available for £2 per child between 11am until 3pm. Also celebrate Easter by making an Easter Bonnet, or some Easter Bunny ears to wear. There will be egg decorating, too.
  • Easter Sunday, 21 April : The ever-popular Medieval Jousting spectacular returns once again for 2019. The day features England’s number one jousting team from Nottingham, who will bring about 20 jousters, including the Black Knight and Sir Michael of York. Jousting displays at 1pm and 2.30pm. The Gallant Knight will be entertaining visitors throughout the day. There will also be a Craft Fair from 11am-4pm.
  • Easter Monday, 22 April : Enjoy traditional seaside swing boats for children of all ages, included in the admission charge. Traditional seaside donkeys will be on the front events field, with donkey rides available for £2 per child between 11am and 3pm. Also Punch and Judy shows : Fun for all the family with this traditional seaside performance.

Admission prices are £8.40 for adults; £6.20 for children; and a family ticket is also available at £28 (two adults and two children). Annual passes are also available at £26 for adults; £14 for children; and £70 for a family.
