Active Withernsea, in partnership with local community groups, is pleased to announce its first showcase event on Sunday, 5 May, including a full day of free activities and events across the town in one day.
The event, titled Let’s Connect, starts with soft play and aqua run inflatable sessions at East Riding Leisure Withernsea and ends with free family cinema at the Meridian Centre.
Many more free activities will be on offer on the day at various venues across the town. There is something for everyone, no matter what age.
Free programmes can be collected from the leisure centre, the SHORES centre, the library or children’s centre, all in Withernsea.
Each programme has an attendance ticket to swap for a free raffle ticket; just bring it to the Active Withernsea tent in Valley Gardens, Withernsea on 5 May.
Also taking place the day before (4 May) is the Big Beach Clean to help clear up our coastline, meeting 10.30am at Castle Café, Withernsea.
Active Withernsea is one of 12 local development pilots funded by Sport England aimed at increasing physical activity as well as encouraging the community to get more involved in social activities and mental health groups.
Our vision is to create a happier, healthier Withernsea by bringing the community together, focusing on what is strong and building on this by using community connections.
All of the activities and services that are being showcased at the event already exist in Withernsea. The main aims of the showcase are to celebrate the town, give people a chance to try something new and to encourage residents to connect with Active Withernsea, offering suggestions around what would help them, their friends or families to enjoy the town they live in even more.
