How do I find and book an adult learning course?

You can book in a variety of ways:

Book online

To view details of adult learning courses and find out how to book your place visit our course finder.

Book by telephone

To book by telephone:

  • contact the adult learning centre offering the course and have the course details ready, along with your credit/debit card details if the course is to be paid for

  • you may be required to attend an enrolment and induction session before the course begins.

Book in person

To book in person:

  • please check the office opening hours for the adult learning centre you plan to visit

  • and be prepared to pay for your course if applicable and take along some proof of ID (see below for details).

When can I book for a course?

Booking is generally not available once the course has started so please book as early as possible before the course is due to start to avoid disappointment. Courses with low numbers prior to the start date may be cancelled, and all those who have booked will be informed of the cancellation, and offered advice on how to book on an alternative course, or refunded if applicable.

When I book, what documents do I need to bring with me?

At the time of booking, or before the start of the course, you will need to produce proof of your identity to an adult learning centre. Acceptable proof includes driving licence, national insurance card, passport, credit/debit card or photo ID card.

Do I get a refund if I leave the course?

We aim to deliver all advertised courses, however, we reserve the right to cancel courses due to insufficient learner numbers in order to ensure financial viability. Learners will be contacted if the course is to be cancelled prior to the first session and full fees will be refunded.

If you enrol on a course and wish to withdraw, refunds will only be issued if you advise us (in writing or by email) at least seven days before the start of the course. After this point, refunds will only be issued if the course is cancelled by the service. Please assume courses will run unless you are contacted.

What information do I receive when I book on a course?

When you book on a course the adult learning centre will provide you with pre-course information that will give you all the information you need for that course.

We also produce a learner handbook which details important service information that you may find useful during your learning with us - what you can expect from the service, information and advice, keeping you and others safe, how we ensure quality and our values.

Throughout your learning, with us, you will be asked for feedback where you can give comments on what you thought of the course and what you achieved from it.

If I book for an exam/assessment-based course, when will the exam/assessment take place?

The exam/assessment dates vary and may not be on the same day and time as your normal session. You may, therefore, be expected to attend during the day, even if your session normally takes place in the evening. You will be provided with full details at time of booking.
