£190,000 road improvement scheme for Broomfleet near Brough

Monday, 29 September 2025

Improvement work is to be carried out on a road in Broomfleet near Brough starting in October.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is to invest £190,000 to upgrade the road along Common Lane and Common Road, between Wallingfen Lane and Jarratt Hill Lane.

The project is due to start on Monday 6 October and take around three weeks to complete, with work carried out during the daytime.

The scheme will include resurfacing, patching in areas, and some structural work to strengthen parts of the road in order to improve its durability and safety.

During the construction period, the section of road being worked on will be closed to all through traffic, with a signed diversion in place, via Common Lane, Broomfleet, Carr Lane, Little Lane, Main Street, Ellerker Road, Ings Lane, South Cave, Millbeck Bank and Common Road, South Cave.

Access to properties within the working area will be maintained throughout the closure.

The work will be carried out by the council’s own road maintenance team.

Councillor Paul West, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “Thank you to residents and drivers in this area for bearing with us while we carry out this essential work to improve and strengthen this section of road in Broomfleet.”
